I recently raised over $18,500 for Indonesian medical relief by completing SurfAid’s #MakeAWave challenge to surf every day in September. Surfing World magazine asked me to chronicle my experience and I was more than happy to oblige.
Learn, Earn, Legend
A month on the road with indigenous pro surfer and mineworker Dale Richards, touring regional Queensland and running mentorship seminars for high schoolers through the government’s Learn, Earn, Legend initiative was about as rewarding as it gets.
Lombok Relief
In the wake of the devastating 2018 Lombok earthquake, three friends and I loaded up two trucks with tents, toys, rice and water and went to see what support we could offer our beautiful Indonesian neighbours. We had no plan and the damage we saw was heartbreaking, but we left with empty vehicles and full hearts.
